CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs have announced the hiring of Lauren Allio as the club's new director of community relations.
A native of Baltimore, MD, Allio is a 2009 cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Sport and Entertainment Management.
"I am pleased to announce the hiring of Lauren Allio as our new director of community relations," said General Manager Dave Echols. "Lauren brings a wealth of experience to our organization, and we are very excited to have her."
As the club's community relations director, Allio will represent the RiverDogs in many local activities as well as coordinating appearances for Charlie T. RiverDog, the club's loveable mascot. Allio will also head up the highly successful "Running & Reading With The RiverDogs" initiative. The "3 R's" is a joint initiative between the RiverDogs and the Charleston County School District to promote both reading and exercise among third grade students.
Before joining the RiverDogs, Allio worked for the NFL's Carolina Panthers as their assistant guest relations coordinator. She also spent nine months working in Washington DC as a professional recruiter for Aerotek Scientific and has been working in Charleston for Event Partners Incorporated since April.
Allio also spent two years in the University of South Carolina's sports medicine department as a clinic assistant and also spent time as an intern in the Gamecocks' administrative office.
