USA Team adds another Charlotte Knight
Knights First Baseman Added to U.S. Pan American Baseball Roster
DURHAM, N.C. - The United States baseball team added Jim Gallagher to their Pan American Baseball Team roster on Tuesday, October 18th. He will join the USA Team on Wednesday in Lagos de Moreno, Mexico. Gallagher will join fellow Charlotte Knights Jordan Danks, Andrew Garcia and Justin Cassel on the USA Team roster.
Gallagher spent 2011 with the Charlotte Knights playing First Base and Outfield. In 126 games Gallagher batted .246 leading the Knights with 72 runs scored, 39 doubles (2nd in the International League) and 62 walks. Of his 39 doubles, 24 were hit at Knights Stadium in 62 home games.
A native of North Carolina, Gallagher was born in Durham, N.C. and attended Duke University from 2005-07 where he hit .310 in over 500 career at-bats. In 2007 Gallagher hit .360 for the Blue Devils and was then selected in the seventh round of baseball's amateur draft by the Chicago White Sox.
The USA Team begins the Pan American baseball games on Thursday, October 20th at 3 p.m. against the Dominican Republic.
