Ex-Driller Tulowitzki Collects Slew of Awards
The onslaught of awards began on Thursday when the Colorado Rockies shortstop was named to the National League All-Star Team as selected by The Sporting News.
On Monday, the 27-year-old was given the Fielding Bible Award as the best defensive shortstop in all of Major League Baseball, before also receiving his second straight Gold Glove Award on Tuesday.
Tulowitzki's run of trophies was capped when he was given the Silver Slugger Award as the National League's top-hitting shortstop. It is also his second straight season that he has won this prestigious award that is determined through voting by league managers and coaches.
This past season, Tulowitzki hit .302 and led all NL shortstops with 30 home runs and 105 runs batted in.
He joins Barry Larkin and Edgar Renteria as the only National League shortstops to ever win both the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards in consecutive seasons.
Tulowitzki spent most of the 2006 season in the Texas League with the Drillers and also made injury-rehabilitation appearances in Tulsa in 2008 and 2010.
