Squirrels Unwrap 3rd 'Season of Giving'
The 2012 Season of Giving marks the third time the club will donate a portion of its merchandise sales to local groups. Over the course of the first two years of the month-long event, the Flying Squirrels contributed nearly $20,000 to local charities.
"The Season of Giving has been a hallmark for the Flying Squirrels since the day we unveiled our logo back in 2009," said Flying Squirrels Vice President and COO Todd "Parney" Parnell. "Giving back to the community means so much to us as an organization and other teams in our league have seen the kind of impact that it can make, so much so, that they have started doing simliar events. I think it's really special and something we are very proud of."
The Squirrels Nest presented by Nike Team is located on the first base side of The Diamond. As part of special holiday shopping hours, the store will be open from 9 AM - 6 PM Monday through Friday, 10 AM - 6 PM on Saturday and 12 PM - 6 PM on Sunday.
The Season of Giving will take place at the Squirrels Nest presented by Nike Team at The Diamond only. The Squirrels Nest at Short Pump Town Center will be open during mall operating hours but will not be participating in the event.
"It's pretty unique for a minor league merchandise store to be able to contribute as much as we have monetarily to different organizations in the community," said Flying Squirrels' Executive Director of Food & Beverage/Merchandising Ben Rothrock. "There's some new merchandise that we're really excited about and in addition to getting that just in time for the holidays, our fans can help support worthy causes."
