John Smoltz Meet & Greet Opportunity Goes Online

RiverDogs to Auction Chance to Meet Former Atlanta Braves Star Pitcher

CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs have announced they will hold an online auction for the unique opportunity to rub shoulders with retired Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz during a private "Meet and Greet" that is presented by Force Protection, Inc.

Smoltz, the future Hall of Famer who spent two decades with the Braves, will serve as the guest speaker for the 8th Annual Hot Stove Banquet. The event, which will be held on Friday, January 27, in The Crystal Ballroom at the Charleston Marriott, is presented by Tom McQueeney State Farm Insurance and Bennett Hospitality.

The Hot Stove Banquet is an annual event that is hosted by the RiverDogs to keep the thrill and magic of baseball in the air throughout the off-season.  Proceeds benefit The Citadel and College of Charleston Foundations along with MUSC's Storm Eye Institute, the RiverDogs' primary charity.

The "Meet & Greet" will take place early in the day on January 27 at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.  Bidding for the "Meet and Greet" will be offered via auction through www.riverdogs.com. The auction will run Friday, December 2 through January 27.

The highest bidder each Friday at noon will have the chance to get autographs, photos and visit with the only pitcher who owns 200 wins and 150 saves in Major League Baseball history.

For tickets to the Hot Stove Banquet and additional information about the online auction, please contact Melissa Azevedo at (843) 577-DOGS (3647) or visit www.riverdogs.com.
