Ports promote Reiff
"This promotion has been earned as Luke has played a vital role in the Ports success over the past five seasons" said Filippone. "His experience within Minor League Baseball and the Stockton market make him a great fit for the promotion."
Reiff will increase his role in the day-to-day managerial duties of the Ports, while Filippone will continue to work locally with the Ports and their business partners, as well as nationwide as the president of the group's other affiliated clubs, the Delmarva Shorebirds (Class A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) and Everett AquaSox (Class A Short-Season affiliate of the Seattle Mariners).
In April, Reiff will begin his 11th season in Minor League Baseball, and sixth with the Stockton Ports. Prior to joining Stockton, he spent three years with the Fresno Grizzlies (Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants), and began his front office career with two seasons with the Indianapolis Indians (Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates). During his years in Stockton, Reiff has directed all ticket sales and customer service efforts, which has resulted in all-time high attendance figures and contributed to team profitability records. He has also overseen the Ports' marketing, merchandising and operations efforts.
Originally from Bluffton, Ind., Reiff graduated from Bluffton High School. Following high school he received his B.S. from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., with concentrations in sports marketing and business. He currently resides in Stockton, and was recently elected to the YMCA of San Joaquin County Board of Directors.
"I am personally honored to be given this opportunity to lead, and couldn't be more excited to realize the growth potential that exists on the horizon for our organization" said Reiff. "Given our amazing facility and first-class fan support, the Ports future couldn't be brighter."
Opening Day is April 12, 2012 at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Modesto Nuts.
