Zephyrs Defeat Omaha Royals 4-1
Game Keys: Z's starter Brian Lawrence pitched a complete game six hitter as the Zephyrs defeated Omaha 4-1 at Rosenblatt Stadium. Lawrence becomes the first Zephyr since 2004 to pitch a nine inning complete game. The 31 year-old Lawrence pitched a shut out into the ninth inning when Ross Gload busted the shutout with a solo home run to right field. Lawrence needed just 102 pitches to go the distance and earn his 5th victory. New Orleans scored a run in the second inning when Ben Johnson hustled home after a passed ball. Anderson Hernandez drilled a solo home run to lead off the third inning. New Orleans belted out four consecutive two out hits in the sixth inning to plate two additional runs. John Bale on a rehab assignment from Kansas City suffers the defeat. Omaha wins the series taking two of the three games.
Game Notes: The first place Zephyrs wrapped up the seven game road trip with a 5-2 record. The Z's have a 3 ½ game lead on Oklahoma ... David Newhan extended his hitting streak to 6 games... The Z's have hit 82 home runs in 81 games this season... New Orleans heads home for a four game set against Memphis ... The Z's have won eight consecutive against Memphis. The rosters for the Triple A All-Star Game announced and Z's reliever Willie Collazo will be on the team. Two former Zephyrs will also be on hand relievers Travis Driskill of Round Rock and Chris Booker of the Columbus Clippers will participate in the mid summer classic on July 11th.

Game Keys: Three Omaha Royals pitchers combine to three hit and shutout the
Zephyrs on Thursday afternoon 9-0 at Rosenblatt Stadium. Former Zephyr
Scott Elarton on a rehab assignment from Kansas City pitched six innings,
allowed two hits and faced just two batters over the minimum. Kenny Ray
and Gabe DeHoyos pitched the final three innings in the shutout. The Royals
Bill McCarthy had a wind blown home run in the second inning to start the
scoring. Omaha scored two in the fourth, two in the fifth and scored 4
times in the sixth inning. Z's starter Jose Santiago takes the loss. New
Orleans falls to the Omaha Royals for the sixth time in their last seven
meetings. The Zephyrs have managed one run on 11 hits in their last three
games against Omaha.
Game Notes: The Zephyrs will wrap up the seven game road trip on Friday evening, The Z's are 4-2 on the roadtrip.

6/27/07: ZEPHYRS (Mets) 1 ROYALS (Royals) 3
Game Keys: Omaha slugger Craig Brazell drilled his league leading 22nd home run and the Royals defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs 3-1 at Rosenblatt Stadium. The loss snaps the Zephyrs win streak at four games. Mike Aviles hit a 2 out triple in the first frame and Brazell followed it with the blast to right field. The former Met, Brazell has hit six home runs in 12 games against the Z's. The Z's offense was silenced again by the work of Matt Wright, the Omaha pitcher improved to 2-0 against the Zephyrs and has allowed two runs in 25 innings pitched against them. Dave Williams picked up the loss in his Zephyr debut, he worked into the seventh inning scattering six hits and allowed three runs in the defeat. New Orleans had a few minor threats in the contest but scored the only run in the 5th inning with a Ben Johnson RBI single that scored David Newhan. Ryan Braun earned the save pitching the final two innings.
Game Notes: The Z's are 3-10 on days in which the team travels .... New Orleans leads the PCL with 17 June victories ... The first place Z's are 4-1 on this seven game road trip.... The Zephyrs placed LH Adam Bostick on the disabled list with a sore shoulder, he has missed his last two starts.

Game Keys: The Zephyrs sent 11 batters to the plate in the seventh inning,
scored seven times enroute to a 7-4 come from behind win over the Memphis
Redbirds at AutoZone Park. The victory is the Z's fourth consecutive
completing the four game sweep and winning for the 8th consecutive time over
Memphis. Rick Ankiel drilled a two run home run in the fourth inning to
give Memphis a 2-0 lead. Former Zephyr and LSU Tiger Randy Keisler pitched
six innings quieting the Zephyrs offense allowing just one hit. In the
seventh inning Keisler got touched up with a lead off walk and then the two
run home run from David Newhan. The home run tied the game and opened the
flood gates, Keisler suffered the loss allowing four runs on three hits in
six innings. He faced four batters in the seventh and did not retire a
hitter. Jason Vargas earned the win as he pitched six innings and allowed
two runs. The first place Zephyrs have won four consecutive and lead the
Albuquerque Isotopes by three games in the standings.
Game Notes: The Z's improved to 17-6 in June, the most wins by any team in the league. New Orleans also improved its day game record to 16-5.

Game Keys: Philip Humber dealt seven scoreless innings and delivered the New Orleans Zephyrs a 4-1 win over the Memphis Redbirds at AutoZone Park. Humber allowed three hits and struck-out three Memphis hitters and won his team leading eighth game to improve to 8-5. Andy Tracy provided all the offense needed by the Zephyrs driving home two runs and continued his hot hitting. The Zephyrs scored a run in the first inning with a bases loaded sacrifice fly from Tracy. He followed up with a solo home run in the eighth inning, his 18th of the season. Memphis starter Toma Ohka in his second start since signing with the Redbirds suffered the defeat working eight innings. The Z's allowed their only run in the ninth inning when Joe Mather had a two out single to score Nick Stavinoha to break the shutout. The first place Zephyrs have won three in a row and lead the Albuquerque Isotopes by three games in the standings.
Game Notes: Andy Tracy is batting .500 in the series, 6x12 with 3 runs scored, 2 homers, and 5 RBI. Tracy is fifth in the league with 17 home runs, tops in the league with 63 runs scored and tied for 5th with 58 runs batted in ... Game Keys: Andy Tracy pounded out four hits, hit a home run and drove home three runs in the New Orleans Zephyrs 6-3 win over the Memphis Redbirds at AutoZone Park. Brian Lawrence pitched seven innings scattering seven hits and earned his fourth win as a Zephyr. The Z's offense matched a season high with three home runs in the game. Fernando Tatis smacked his tenth home run of the season in the first inning to start the scoring, David Newhan followed him two batters later with a 2 run jack. Memphis starter Blake Hawksworth dropped to 3-9 on the season, his third loss to the Zephyrs. Rick Ankiel hit his league leading 20th home run of the season for Memphis. The Z's led 3-2 until the three run home run by Tracy in the eighth inning to put the game away. The first place Zephyrs have won two in a row and lead the Albuquerque Isotopes by three games in the standings.

Game Keys: Sandy Alomar, Jr drove home two runs and scored two runs as the New Orleans Zephyrs defeated the Memphis Redbirds 4-0 in front of a crowd of 13,392 at AutoZone Park on Saturday night. Jose Santiago dealt six scoreless innings for the Zephyrs in his second consecutive win and improved his record to 3-3. Santiago did not allow a run in his last start last Sunday pitching seven innings. Alomar led the offense with a two run double in the second inning, he also stole third base his first stolen base since 2001. Reliever Jon Adkins earned the save pitching three innings. Mike Smith suffered the loss, his third of the season against the Zephyrs. The first place Zephyrs pitched their second shut out of the week and their fourth of the season.
