Modern Woodmen Park to Host Little League Registration Feb. 18
This weekend, Modern Woodmen Park will be more than just a distant dream for youngsters. On Saturday, Feb. 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Little Leaguers from throughout the Davenport area will visit the ballpark to register for their upcoming season.
"The Modern Woodmen Park experience is all about kids having a great time and creating memories that last a lifetime," said River Bandits owner Dave Heller. "Both the kids and parents have loved incorporating Modern Woodmen Park and professional baseball into the Davenport Little Leagues, and as we continue our support of the Little League programs in the Quad Cities community, we welcome these young athletes and their families."
By centralizing the registration at Modern Woodmen Park, this event incorporates all of Davenport Little Leagues, regardless of age or level, into one central location and has greatly assisted organizers in streamlining the registration process the last three years. Now, Modern Woodmen Park prepares for its fourth year as Davenport's Little League registration venue with hopes of continued success.
"Little League baseball is an important program for everyone in the community," said River Bandits General Manager Stefanie Brown. "As an organization that values youth sports in the Quad Cities area, the River Bandits are thrilled to be able to help the Davenport Little Leagues improve the organization and efficiency of the registration process. We look forward to continually building great relationships between the River Bandits and all the Quad Cities area youth sports organizations."
All the local leagues - including the North, Northwest, East, Southeast, West, Emeis, East Softball, and Challenger Leagues - will hold registration on Saturday. Registration is required even if the child has previously played. At least one parent or legal guardian must be present with proof of residence and an original or state-certified copy of the child's birth certificate, which will be returned at the registration. Also, the leagues require a completed registration form, medical release form, and the fee for registration.

ABOUT THE BANDITS: After four years of ballpark improvements, the River Bandits and the City of Davenport last summer unveiled some of the most impressive enhancements to Modern Woodmen Park yet. A brand new, state of the art, high definition 20' x 35' video board went live on June 7, and the newly enclosed glass Sky Deck on the suite level of Modern Woodmen Park was completed last August. Those improvements, in addition to new flood protection, a new front plaza, and a new parking lot directly across the street from the ballpark, are quickly making Modern Woodmen Park one of the premier facilities in all of Minor League Baseball. More improvements are scheduled for the 2012 season!
