BayBears High School Classic --- Day 2

SPANISH FORT - Baldwin County scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning for a 14-9 win over host Spanish Fort during the second day of the BayBears High School Classic.

Billy Johnstone drove in two runs, then Kyle Buck followed up with a two-run triple and scored on a passed ball in the final inning.

"It was just a crazy game that we came back and I am proud of my kids," BCHS coach Peter Bezeredi said. "We had some things go wrong and we proved to ourselves that we can come back from anything."

Tucker Miller was 2-for-5 with four RBIs, Jordan Ebert 2-for-5 with one RBI, J.A. Harville 2-for-5, Johnstone had three RBIs and Kyle Buck two RBIs for the Tigers (2-1), the 2011 Class 6A runners-up.

Tate Godwin was 2-for-4 with four RBIs, Andrew Ferrell 3-for-5 with two doubles and Blain Crane added two RBIs for the Toros (0-3), who are back-to-back defending 5A champions.

CITRONELLE 7, MARY MONTGOMERY 3

Sean Zehner hit a grand slam and drove in five runs for Citronelle in the second day of the BayBears High School Classic on Tuesday.

Tyler Williams (1-0) struck out seven in six innings for the Wildcats.

Blane Fillingim drove in two runs for the Vikings.

MGM (1-1) faces Satsuma tonight at 6:30, while Citronelle (1-1) faces Murphy at 4.

SATSUMA 10, MURPHY 6

Kevin Barnett was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and Cole Havard struck out four in relief to earn this victory. Satsuma moves to 2-0.

Thomas Londen had two hits and two RBIs for Murphy.

BAKER 10, ST. LUKE'S 0

The Hornets' Blake Elmore stuck out four in four innings and Dylan Kiene and Forrest Andeson each had two hits and an RBI for Baker (1-1).

Baker faces UMS tonight at 6:30, while St. Luke's (0-2) faces Faith Academy at 4.

FAITH ACADEMY 6, UMS 3

Caleb Lopes had three hits and an RBI and Logan Collier, Jonathan Brown and Mitchell Miller each drove in runs for Faith.

ST. PAUL'S 9, SARALAND 5

Dalton Rentz got the win, and Austin Moseley, Murphy Moseley and Justin Thompson each drove in runs for the Saints.

Matthew Peacock had two hits for Saraland and Jordan Tillman added three hits and an RBI.

St. Paul's faces Cottage Hill today at 4 p.m., while Saraland faces Theodore at 6:30 p.m.

THEODORE 11, COTTAGE HILL 0

Cameron Davis belted a three-run homer and Garrett Waters added two hits and two RBIs for the Bobcats.

Charlie Spencer added a two-run double and AJ Abbett had an RBI triple for Theodore (2-0).

MCGILL-TOOLEN 2, DAVIDSON 0

Andrew Mahoney allowed just one hit and fanned 10 and Shane Petrei had a two-run double for the Yellow Jackets.

McGill (2-0) faces Bryant today at 3:30 p.m., and Davidson meets Mobile Christian at 1 pm.

BRYANT 11, MOBILE CHRISTIAN 0

Jay Cornelius struck out 12 in five innings and Aaron Haynes and David Hale each drove in a pair of runs for the Hurricanes.

FAIRHOPE 3, GULF SHORES 0

Ethan Hunt struck out six in four innings and Beecher Faust picked up the save for the Pirates. Taylor Gradle had three hits and an RBI for Fairhope (2-0), which plays Daphne today at 6:30 p.m.
