July 1, 2007
Jerry Owens smacked a homer and drove in five runs as Charlotte cruised past host Pawtucket, 14-2, on Sunday.

Owens lifted a sacrifice fly in a two-run fifth inning to give the Knights (36-49) a 4-0 lead. He ripped his third homer, a three-run shot, to cap a seven-run seventh and walked with the bases loaded in the eighth for his fifth RBI.

Charlotte's Wiki Gonzalez, who went 4-for-5 with three RBIs, belted his ninth homer to lead off the third. He also delivered RBI singles in the sixth and seventh.

Gavin Floyd (7-3) allowed two runs on three hits, striking out six and walking six over five frames to pick up the win. Jake Robbins, Jason Childers, Ehren Wassermann and Eduardo Sierra tossed a scoreless inning apiece to close it out for the Knights.

Michael Tucker and Jeff Bailey each drove in a run for the Red Sox (35-45).

Mike Burns (0-6) surrendered four runs -- one earned -- on five hits, fanning four and walking three over five innings to take the loss.
