Sanchez named FSL Player of the Week

JUPITER, FL - The Florida State League has named a Roger Dean Stadium duo its Player and Pitcher of the Week for June 25-July 1, it was announced Tuesday.

Jupiter Hammerheads first baseman Gaby Sanchez was named the FSL Player of the Week, after hitting .435 (10-for-23) with six doubles, eight RBI and 10 runs scored. Sanchez was the Florida Marlins' Minor League Player of the Year in 2006, when he hit .287 with 15 home runs and 47 RBI in 71 games between Greensboro and Jupiter.

Palm Beach Cardinals pitcher Adam Ottavino was honored as the FSL Pitcher of the Week, following a week that saw him go 2-0 without allowing a run in 14 innings. Ottavino, the St. Louis Cardinals' first-round pick in 2006, struck out 12 without issuing a walk and yielded just 10 hits.
