Vice Presidential Debates Heating Up
It's been a few months now since IronPigs' mascots FeRROUS and FeFe announced their intentions to run for President of the Lehigh Valley and the polling results show that both candidates are neck and neck in the voting making these Vice Presidential debates between Diggity and Barbie Q. that much more important.
The hot-button issue has been the debate over what is the signature food item here for fans at Coca-Cola Park. Obviously, Diggity is campaigning hard for the hot dog and there is talk of a Dollar Dog Night amendment for the 2013 season. On the other, Barbie Q. wants to eliminate pork barrel spending and sees more barbeque sandwiches leading to more jobs and a lower unemployment rate here in the Lehigh Valley.
Keep in mind you, the fans, will ultimately decide the winner. One randomly selected fan that casts a vote for the eventual winner will win two Field Level season tickets for the 2013 season along with a $500 shopping spree to the Majestic Clubhouse Store. Ten other lucky winners will win four Field Level vouchers to a 2013 Monday thru Thursday home game at Coca-Cola Park.
Voting is underway at at both voteFeFe.com and voteFeRROUS.com and will run through August, 27. The new President will be inaugurated prior to the IronPigs' home game on September 1 at Coca-Cola Park with a special giveaway (TBD) in their honor.
"Our fans have a significant decision to make this election season," remarked IronPigs General Manager Kurt Landes. "Both FeRROUS and FeFe are equally qualified for the Presidency but only one candidate will ultimately win the coveted position. It's up to you, the best fans in Minor League Baseball, to decide."
There is no limit to the number of times that you can vote and grass roots campaigns on social media platforms promoting either candidate are strongly encouraged.
Over the next few months, you will learn more about where the candidates stand on the real issues, such as pork barrel spending and bacon-flavored ice cream. Expect the following as the campaigning heats up this summer:
- A ton of mudslinging! After all, they are pigs! Will the negative campaigning take a toll on one candidate more than the other?
- Both candidates hitting the campaign trail at Coca-Cola Park and talking about the important issues with the voters and fans.
- Campaign endorsements from important figures at Coca-Cola Park, including Ryne Sandberg and Hambone. Believe it or not, only one of those endorsements is actually coveted by the candidates.
