Last July 9, the band performed before 6,000 at the ballpark.
The Tex-Mex super group's most recent album, Esta Bueno! showcases the final work of legendary Freddy Fender and reunites Augie Meyers with Flaco Jimenez. The triumph also features Shawn Sahm - son of original member Doug Sahm. Esta Bueno! earned a place in the American Music Association's Top 100 albums for 2010.
Dubbed "the Tex-Mex equivalent of the Traveling Wilburys and the Grateful Dead," the Texas Tornados formed in 1989, offering a soulful sound of country, R&B, balladeering, Texas rock & roll and conjunto - a mix of Mexican Norteno with polkas and waltzes. As one Pollstar correspondent wrote, "The Tornados are not country, they're not rock and roll. They've taken their sound straight from the sawdust-floored cantinas of South Texas and spiced it up a bit."
