Mercedes burns Mustangs
Mercedes (2-1) won his second straight outing after yielding three singles and one walk while striking out five to lower his ERA to 2.35. He allowed one hit over the first four frames, then retired the last five batters he faced.
The 20-year-old right-hander tossed six scoreless frames in his last start on Friday. He went 0-4 with a 7.26 ERA with Class A West Virginia.
Robert Bryson gave up one hit over the final two innings for his second save.
Kurt Crowell singled and scored twice for the Brewers (10-7), but Jonathan Lucroy went 0-for-4 to end his 12-game hitting streak.
Mustangs starter Enerio Del Rosario (1-2) surrendered two runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
