Gload named IL's Topps POTM

FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights are proud to announce that Ross Gload has been named the International League's TOPPS Player of the Month for the month of August. League manager's vote on this monthly award and Gload is the first Knights recipient.

Gload, 29, batted .366 (41-112) during the month while also smashing 7 home runs and a team high 15 doubles. During his 31 games in Charlotte Gload also drove in 25 runs while posting a .426 OBP.

In 60 total games with the Knights during the 2005 season the Gload batted .364 (86-236) with 15 home runs, 22 doubles and 45 runs batted in. Gload was recalled to the Chicago White Sox on September 1st and in 19 total games in 2005 with the White Sox he is batting .161 (5-31) while driving in 1 run and connecting on 1 double.

With his impressive performance in the 2005 season, Gload now ranks as the all-time batting leader in both the Charlotte and Knights record book posting a career .331 (246-744) average. Gload also ranks T-4th (Knights) and T-7th (Charlotte) for all-time career doubles with 66 and is ranked 10th in the Knights record book for career RBI's with 70.
