Loupadiere slams Volcanoes

Maruis Loupadiere hit a grand slam and drove in a career-high five runs as host Tri-City held on for a 6-5 victory over Salem-Keizer on Friday.

Everth Cabrera led off the game with a walk and scored on Helder Velazquez's RBI double. After a pair of walks, Loupadiere connected for his fourth home run.

Loupadiere also had a run-scoring double in the eighth inning to give the Dust Devils (11-20) a 6-4 lead.

Velazquez and Lars Davis each had two hits for Tri-City, which snapped a four-game losing streak.

Starter Marco Duarte (1-1) gave up three runs -- two earned -- on eight hits in six frames, striking out two and walking one. Joseph Williamson struck out the side in the eighth, but served up a solo home run to Chad Rothford. Riquy Pena recorded his fourth save, despite giving up one run on one hit in the ninth.

Volcanoes starter Ryan McGrath (1-3) was charged with five runs on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts in three frames. Daryl Maday gave up a hit and fanned six in four scoreless innings and hasn't allowed an earned run in seven appearances, spanning 21 1/3 innings this season.

Shane Jordan, Matthew Downs, Garret Baker and Rothford each had two hits for Salem-Keizer (25-6), which had its five-game winning streak snapped. --Tim Leonard/MLB.com
