2012 Opening Day Roster Announced

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees and New York Yankees have announced the SWB Yankees opening day roster for 2012. The roster features 14 players that have previously played with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and is comprised of 14 position players and 11 pitchers.

Ryan Baker, Manny Banuelos, Dellin Betances, Doug Bernier, Francisco Cervelli, Colin Curtis, Chris Dickerson, Ray Kruml, Brandon Laird, D.J. Mitchell, Ramiro Pena, Kevin Russo, Adam Warren and Kevin Whelan have had previous stops with the SWB Yankees during their careers.

11 players will make their first appearances with the SWB Yankees in 2012, including opening night starter right hander Manny Delcarmen. The other newcomers to the Yankees include: Jason Bulger (RHP), Juan Cedeno (LHP), Jack Cust (OF), Cole Garner (OF), Craig Heyer (RHP), Yadil Mujica (INF), Mike O'Connor (LHP), Steve Pearce (INF), Craig Tatum (C), and Pat Venditte (SP).

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees open up what is the most unique and challenging 2012 schedule of any Minor League baseball team, Thursday, April 5 at Coca-Cola Park against instate rival Lehigh Valley with a 7:05 PM first pitch. Due to a major renovation scheduled for PNC Field during the 2012 season, the SWB Yankees will play all 142 games of the schedule outside of the team's home facility of PNC Field. The Yankees "home" opener is on Saturday, April 14 at 4:00 PM at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse, New York against the Syracuse Chiefs.
