Savickas, 'pen douse Reds

Russ Savickas and two relievers combined on a three-hitter and Carlo Cota drove in four runs as Dunedin routed visiting Sarasota, 12-1, on Tuesday.

Savickas (5-5) surrendered one run on three hits and four walks while striking out three in six innings. The 23-year-old right-hander improved to 3-0 with a 2.38 ERA in four starts at home for the Blue Jays (21-11).

Adrian Martin struck out two in two perfect innings before Paul Phillips fanned two in a 1-2-3 ninth.

Cota smacked an RBI double in the third before cranking a three-run blast, his sixth, in the seventh. Jesus Gonzalez chipped in a two-run double in the eighth and Eric Nielsen, Kreuzer and Chris Gutierrez each drove in a run for Dunedin, which has won four straight.

Jacob Butler stroked a three-run homer in the first, tying Kreuzer, Palm Beach's Allen Craig and Lakeland's Michael Hernandez for the Florida State League lead with 17.

Reds starter Sean Watson (1-3) yielded six runs on nine hits and a walk with two strikeouts in two frames.

Eric Eymann lifted a sacrifice fly in the sixth for Sarasota (17-16), which has dropped three straight. --Ryan McConnell/MLB.com
