Yankees Shutout by Chiefs 4-0

For the second time in three days, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees were shutout, this time by a score of 4-0 in the series opener in Syracuse.

Syracuse didn't waste any time as they took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first off of a Tyler Moore single to right field.

The Chiefs lead grew to 3-0 in the bottom half of third, due to RBI singles by Carlos Maldonado and Mark Teahen.

Seth Bynum capped the scoring for the Chiefs with a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth.

Manny Banuelos suffered the loss throwing 3 1/3 innings allowing four runs on 11 hits. He struck out two and walked one.

The Yankee bullpen was solid as Mike O'Connor, Cody Eppley, and Juan Cedeno didn't allow a run or a hit in the final 4 2/3 innings.

Yunesky Maya earned the win for the Chiefs. He allowed just four hits in six shutout innings. He struck out four and didn't walk a batter.

The Yankees and Chiefs meet again on Sunday to play the second game of a four game series at Alliance Bank Stadium. Game time is 5:00 PM.
