M-Braves shutout Biscuits, 4-0
Ian Gac led the M-Braves (3-6) offense with a perfect 3-for-3 night at the plate. He drove in three runs on the night. Andrelton Simmons followed with a three-hit night at the plate while scoring two runs.
Montgomery (3-6) had just two hits on the night and committed two errors while Mississippi managed four runs on nine hits.
The M-Braves jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Simmons singled to right field before stealing second and taking third on a wild throw by the catcher Mark Thomas.
In the bottom of the fourth, Phil Gosselin led off with a single to left field. He swiped second and scored on an Ian Gac triple to right field, giving the M-Braves a 2-0 advantage.
Simmons got things started with a lead-off triple in the bottom of the sixth. Gosselin then walked and stole second. Gac followed with a single to drive in Simmons before Christian Bethancourt's sac bunt brought in Gosselin to make it a 4-0 game.
Hale did not allow a hit, but walked two while fanning five. Joseph Cruz (0-2) gave up four earned runs on seven hits, a walk, and four strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings pitched.
M-Braves lefty Chris Masters (0-0, 4.15) takes on Biscuits' right-hander Jacob Thompson (0-0, 9.00) in the Saturday night series finale at Trustmark Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM. Gates open at 5:00 PM.
