Chiefs fans set world record at game

August 7, 2007
SYRACUSE, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs are pleased to announce that a new world record was set at the team's game on Tuesday, August 7.

During the third inning of the contest, a total of 3,927 fans put on Groucho Marx glasses and left them on for the duration of the inning. The glasses were provided by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield to fans as they entered the stadium on Tuesday.

The previous record of 3,802 was set last season at a Rochester Red Wings game at Frontier Field.

The world record attempt was part of Excellus BCBS's "Generics are REAL" public awareness campaign. In one of the campaign's more humorous ads, a pill bottle dons a pair of Groucho glasses with the tagline - Brand-name drugs are just generics in disguise.
