Spivey lifts Red Sox in 10th

August 13, 2007
Junior Spivey smacked a two-run double in the 10th inning to push Pawtucket past host Syracuse, 8-6, on Monday.

The Red Sox (57-65) loaded the bases on two walks in the 10th -- one intentional -- sandwiched around an error before Spivey ripped a one-out double to left field.

Pawtucket knotted the game with four runs in the fifth on two-run homers by Bobby Kielty, his second, and Bobby Scales, his seventh.

Red Sox reliever Lincoln Holdzkom (1-0) worked around hit and a walk in 1 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win. Travis Hughes tossed a perfect 10th to post his 18th save.

John-Ford Griffin belted a three-run shot, his 25th, in the first for the Chiefs (54-67).

Syracuse reliever Blaine Neal (5-7) surrendered two runs -- one earned -- on two hits, striking out one and walking two in two innings. Starter Mike MacDonald yielded six runs on eight hits, fanning two and walking two in five frames. --Alan Friedman/MLB.com
