Flashback: July in the Texas League
July 1 -- Pitcher of the Week Joe Saunders twirled a one-hitter as the Arkansas Travelers blanked the Tulsa Drillers, 4-0. The 24-year-old southpaw walked two and fanned six in a game that lasted just two hours, six minutes.
July 2 -- Springfield's Travis Hanson collected two hits in each of the Cardinals' five games to win Offensive Player of the Week honors. The 24-year-old third baseman capped his week with a double, homer and four RBIs in a 7-4 win over Wichita.
July 3 -- Jaime Bubela went 1-for-4 in San Antonio's 3-2 win over Frisco to extend his hitting streak to 23 games. The streak was the longest in the Texas League in 2005 but ended the following day with an 0-for-4 performance against RoughRiders left-hander John Danks.
July 5 -- Sandy Nin retired the first 15 batters en route to his second consecutive complete game as the Drillers beat the Travelers, 4-1. Nin, who surrendered just two hits and two walks, had limited the RoughRiders to one unearned run on six hits in his previous start.
July 10 -- Wranglers first baseman Justin Huber earned MVP honors at the All-Star Futures Game with a two-run, pinch-hit double as the World Team blanked the U.S., 4-0.
July 10 -- T.J. Bohn, the Texas League leader in hits, went 5-for-5 with a triple, a double, two RBIs and three stolen bases, but it wasn't enough as the Missions lost to the Midland RockHounds, 5-4. The 25-year-old right fielder was named Offensive Player of the Week.
July 11 -- Jason Hirsh hurled a three-hitter as the Corpus Christi Hooks edged the Cardinals, 1-0, for their seventh straight win. The 23-year-old right-hander struck out 11 and walked none en route to winning his Minor League-leading third Pitcher of the Week award.
July 11 -- Kansas City Royals pitcher Kyle Snyder won his rehab start with Wichita, giving up three runs on five hits in five innings as the Wranglers edged the RockHounds, 5-4. Two other Royals contributed as Matt Diaz blasted a three-run homer and Ambiorix Burgos tossed two hitless innings.

July 12 -- Colorado Rockies outfielder Matt Holliday, making his second rehab start for the Drillers, went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBIs to lead Tulsa past the RoughRiders, 11-9. In seven Double-A games, Holliday hit .538 (14-for-26) with three doubles and six RBIs.
July 13 -- Randy Leek tossed seven solid innings to become the Texas League's first 10-game winner as Springfield defeated Arkansas, 7-5. The 28-year-old left-hander yielded one run on seven hits, walking two and fanning four.
July 14 -- In his final Double-A rehab start, Houston Astros catcher Humberto Quintero went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI to help the Hooks beat the Cardinals, 3-2. In four games with Corpus Christi, he went 2-for-11 (.182) with a walk and two strikeouts.
July 17 -- Offensive Player of the Week Donnie Murphy went 4-for-5 with a double and two homers, but it wasn't enough as Frisco ended a 13-game losing streak by beating Wichita, 13-11. For the week, Murphy went 12-for-28 (.476) with four homers, seven RBIs and 10 runs.
July 18 -- The RockHounds hit into their Texas League record-tying third triple play of the season but had no trouble beating the Drillers, 9-2.
July 20 -- Offensive Player of the Week Justin Huber homered in his third straight game to lead the Wranglers past the Cardinals, 5-2. Huber ended the week 10-for-25 (.400) to raise his league-leading average to .347.
July 22 -- Daric Barton went 3-for-4 and fell a triple short of the cycle as the RockHounds won their eighth straight game, 8-3, over the Hooks. The streak ended the next day with a 7-5 loss to Corpus Christi.
July 24 -- Emiliano Fruto earned his 11th save in San Antonio's 4-3 win over Corpus Christi en route to becoming the first reliever to win the Pitcher of the Week honors this season. The 21-year-old Colombian extended his scoreless streak to 10 1/3 innings.
July 25 -- Mitch Maier slugged a walk-off grand slam as Wichita rallied for a 10-6 triumph over the Drillers.
July 26 -- Former first-round draft pick Jered Weaver settled for a no-decision in his Double-A debut as the Travelers edged the Cardinals, 6-5. The 6-foot-7 right-hander gave up four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits in four innings, walking two and striking out one.
July 28 -- A.J. Murray, Steve Karsay and Scott Feldman combined to pitch the Texas League's first perfect game in 22 years as Frisco blanked Corpus Christi, 3-0. For their effort, which came hours after pitching coach Steve Luebber was fired, the trio was honored with the Pitcher(s) of the Week award.
July 31 -- Offensive Player of the Week Mike Eylward supported Jered Weaver's first Double-A win with two homers and six RBIs as the Travelers crushed the Wranglers, 14-1. Weaver allowed an unearned run on three hits in six innings. Eylward finished the week 14-for-26 (.476) with five homers, 14 RBIs and a 1.192 slugging percentage.
