ValleyCats and Spinners Split Twinbill

TROY, N.Y. - The Tri-City ValleyCats and Lowell Spinners split a doubleheader at Joe Bruno Stadium on Monday night.

Miguel Socolovich started the first game for the Spinners and allowed just one hit over five innings as the Spinners won 8-2. Deshaun Brooks hit his first professional homerun in the third inning to power the Spinners with four RBI. Russell Dixon knocked his first homerun of the day in the sixth inning to drive in the `Cats only two runs.

The ValleyCats sent Jeff Icenogle to the mound in the second game striking out a career-high eight batters in five scoreless innings in a 3-1 `Cats victory. Dixon provided the power for the `Cats again with his second homerun of the night in the sixth. Dixon is now hitting .363 with two homeruns and 10 RBI in his last six games.

The ValleyCats and Spinners play the final game of the series Tuesday night at Joe Bruno Stadium. The Spinners will send Boston Red Sox 2007 first round draft pick, Nick Hagadone to the mound to face Tommy Vessella of the `Cats. It is Bark in the Park Night so bring your dogs to the ballpark and catch the `Cats in action.
