Quakes Rustled up by Rawhide on Friday
Carter Bell's three-run double highlighted a four-run second, as Quakes' starter Angel Sanchez got roughed up in the loss.
Scott Wingo enjoyed his second consecutive night at The Epicenter, as he hit his first of two triples to open the game, then scored on a Tyler Henson sac fly, as the Quakes took a 1-0 lead in the first.
That lead was short-lived though, as Visalia loaded the bases against Sanchez in the second, with Bell driving in three with a double to put the Rawhide ahead for good at 3-1. Bell would later score on an RBI double from Garrett Weber, capping the inning at 4-1.
The Quakes chipped away with a run in the fourth, as Nick Akins brought home Austin Gallagher with an RBI single to make it 4-2 against Visalia starter and eventual winner Mike Bolsinger (1-2).
Sanchez (1-2) got chased in the fifth, as Visalia poured on three runs to take a 7-2 lead. Raywilly Gomez highlighted the inning with a two-run single.
Rancho got single runs in the fifth and sixth, making it 7-4, as Chris O'Brien and Wingo each drove in a run.
They'd get no closer though, as the Visalia bullpen tossed three scoreless innings to finish the night. Closer Eric Smith worked the final two frames for his second save.
The Quakes (6-10) will get back to work on Saturday, sending Zach Lee (0-1) to the mound, opposite Visalia lefty Alexander Carerras (1-1), with game time scheduled for 7:05pm.
Saturday night is another Fireworks Spectacular, as everyone will enjoy a post-game Fireworks Display. Tickets are available at 909-481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at The Epicenter...Go Quakes!
