Steve Klauke to Call 2,642th Game Tonight, Set New Record

April 21, 2012

SALT LAKE CITY (April 21, 2012) - Following tonight's game at Tucson, Steve Klauke, the only voice in Salt Lake franchise history, will surpass legendary Utah Jazz broadcaster 'Hot' Rod Hundley as having called the most games with a single team in the state of Utah. Including tonight's game, Klauke will have called 2,642 games with Salt Lake dating back to the franchise's first game on April 9, 1994. Hundley called 2,641 games with the Utah Jazz.

"Steve's work over the last 18-plus years has been tremendous," said Randy Rigby, president and COO of the Salt Lake Bees and Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment. "His professionalism and his dependability, especially having only missed nine games over that time period, are remarkable. We appreciate the wonderful job that he does for us and look forward to many more years."

Klauke was recognized during a mid-inning presentation last night during the Bees home game vs. Las Vegas. He also threw out the ceremonial first pitch and led the crowd in the singing of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch.

"The entire Bees organization congratulates Steve on this great accomplishment," said Bees General Manager Marc Amicone. "Having called his 2,500th game with the team last season and now setting this new record, Steve has achieved what very few broadcasters in the game have realized. Steve exemplifies Bees baseball and we appreciate his dedication to the franchise and baseball in Utah."

Entering tonight's game, Klauke has been at the mic for 2,641 of the club's 2,650 regular season and postseason games. Now in his 19th season with the club, Klauke's distinctive voice, unique game-calling ability and encyclopedia-like memory have made him well-known throughout all of professional baseball.
