Royals Lorenzo Cain Joins Naturals
SPRINGDALE, AR- The Kansas City Royals everyday center fielder Lorenzo Cain will be joining the Northwest Arkansas Naturals for a rehab assignment beginning today in North Little Rock. Cain is rehabbing from a left groin strain that he got while slamming into the center field wall in a game at Oakland, in his fifth game of the season.
Cain has appeared in five games this season for the Royals has gone 2-for-15 in those contests posting a .133 batting average. The Valdosta, Georgia native appeared in six games last year for the Royals as well hitting .273 (6-for-22) in those contests. He spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Omaha where he hit .312 with 16 home runs, 81 RBI, and 84 runs scored.
Cain was acquired by the Royals from the Milwaukee Brewers along with Jake Odorizzi, and Alcides Escobar, and Jeremy Jeffress in exchange for Zach Grienke and Yuniesky Betancourt in December 2010.
Dick Kaegel, the Royals beat reporter for MLB.com, reports that right handed pitcher Felipe Paulino is expected to join the Naturals later on in the week. Paulino went 4-10 last season in 39 games and 20 starts in the major leagues, splitting time between the Colorado Rockies and the Kansas City Royals.
