Miracle look to strikeout ALS

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Fort Myers Miracle are teaming up with The ALS Association Florida Chapter on Wednesday, August 29 for "Lou Gehrig Night". The Miracle face the Sarasota Reds in the regular season home finale at 7:05 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to sign up for "Ks for a Cure Club" and pledge up to $25 per strikeout of an opposing team's batter. The proceeds will be donated to The ALS Association Florida Chapter.

Fans can also lend their support by purchasing Strike Out ALS wristbands and raffle tickets for Miracle memorabilia, including autographed baseballs.

Lou Gehrig Night, held to honor the famed New York Yankee first baseman and raise awareness of ALS, will include a special on-field pre-­game celebration. Dara Alexander, President of the Florida Chapter, will explain new ALS patient services that are now available to Southwest Florida. Veronica Stewart will sing the National Anthem and Cape Coral Mayor Eric Feichthaler will throw out the first pitch.
