Outfielder Inciarte named MWL Player of the Week

BELOIT, WI - The Midwest League announced it's weekly awards Monday and named South Bend Silver Hawks outfielder Ender Inciarte Midwest League Player of the Week and Burlington's Drew Granier the league's Pitcher of the Week for their performances from April 16-22.

During that stretch, Inciarte hit .550 (11-for-20) with six doubles, including the game-winner against Wisconsin yesterday afternoon. Inciarte also walked five times and stole two bases.

Entering play Monday, Inciarte boasts a .316 batting average, good for second on the team. In parts of three seasons with the Silver Hawks, Inciarte is hitting .255 with two home runs and 48 runs driven in.

Inciarte, 21, was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and was signed by the Diamondbacks as a non-drafted free agent in 2008. He is the first Silver Hawk to be honored in 2012.

Inciarte and the Silver Hawks play game two of a three game series Monday night against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase by calling 235-9988 or online at www.silverhawks.com.
