Headley, Geer headline Texas League's best

Texas League Player of the Year Chase Headley and Pitcher of the Year Josh Geer make up only half of the San Antonio Missions named to the circuit's 2007 Postseason All-Star Team.

Headley's league-best .326 average and 1.003 on-base plus-slugging percentage earned him the top player prize and an All-Star nod at third base. Geer is tied with fellow All-Star Luis Mendoza of Frisco for the league lead with 15 wins while boasting a 3.23 ERA in 25 starts for the Missions.

San Antonio's dynamic duo will be joined on the All-Star roster by teammates Nick Hundley and Will Venable.

Hundley earned one of the two spots at catcher by collecting 20 homers and 20 doubles while driving in 68 runs in 94 games. Venable is one of four Texas League outfielders selected. He is batting .281 with eight homers, 64 RBIs and 21 stolen bases for the South Division second-half leaders.

Frisco's Dave Anderson took home the Manager of the Year award after guiding the RoughRiders to the South's first-half title and the best overall mark in the league at 81-50. While Mendoza grabbed one of the seven All-Star pitching slots, German Duran will represent Frisco at second base. The 23-year-old native of Mexico is hitting .306 with 22 homers and 79 RBIs, ranking in the top three in the league in each category.

The Arkansas Travelers are the only other team with four All-Star selections. Shortstop Sean Rodriguez has 15 homers, 66 RBIs and 78 runs scored to go with 14 stolen bases. Freddy Sandoval filled the utility infield spot after batting .303 with 11 homers, 69 RBIs and 21 steals. He also ranks second in the Texas League with 83 runs scored.

Also representing the Travelers are pitchers Miguel Gonzalez (7-3, 2.99 ERA) and Nick Green (10-7, 3.68 and two complete games).

Springfield, which took the first-half North Division title, boasts three All-Stars, including catcher Bryan Anderson (.302, five homers, 49 RBIs), slugging outfielder Colby Rasmus (league-best 26 homers with 67 RBIs) and pitcher Chris Perez (2-0, 2.43 ERA and 27 saves).

Corpus Christi's Ray Sadler (league-best 84 RBIs) and Midland's Richie Robnett (.318, 18 HRs and 74 RBIs) fill out the All-Star outfield, while Hooks hurler Troy Patton (6-6, 2.99) and Tulsa closer Steven Register (league-high 35 saves) round out the pitching staff.

Christian Colonel of the Drillers copped the designated hitter spot with his .313 average -- second only to Headley. He also has 14 homers and 76 RBIs for the Drillers. Wichita will be represented by first baseman Mike Stodolka, who is hitting .291 with 12 homers and 59 RBIs.
