Giants to host luau

San Jose, CA - The San Jose Giants return home Friday, August 31st at 7:00 PM taking on the Bakersfield Blaze and celebrating the spirit of the Hawaii with A Giant Luau. The night will include traditional cuisine served by the Hukilau restaurant with a special pig roasting ceremony in Turkey Mike's BBQ. Entertainment will include hula dancers, a Hawaiian band, traditional drumming and a special celebration honoring San Jose Giant's Manager Lenn Sakata.

"After a long season there is no better way to get ready for the playoffs than a trip to Hawaii", said Jim Weyermann, CEO of the San Jose Giants. "Since we can't take all of our fans to the Islands, we thought we would bring Hawaii to our fans. It is going to be one of the best events the team has ever produced."

Wear your Hawaii gear and receive two FREE playoff tickets to the September 8th or 9th playoff game. When the gates open at 5:30 PM, make sure to be one of the first 1,500 fans who will receive festive leis. The Giants will be hosting a Silent Auction of limited edition game-worn players and coaches Aloha print Jerseys. One lucky fan will win the Grand Prize Hawaii Getaway, including two tickets to Honolulu or Maui on Aloha Airlines and a Hawaii Winter Baseball package. Throughout the night raffles will be held for other great prizes.

Turkey Mike's Famous BBQ will be serving cuisine native to Hawaii including roasted pig, Hawaii style burgers, macaroni salad, pineapple and much much more. Traditional music from the islands will be provided by Eono Kane, accompanied by Hula dancers. A Tacky Tourist Race and other festive luau themed promotions will take place throughout the night. Vendor booths including Aloha Airlines, Hukilau Restaurant and Luana's macadamia nut candy and accessories will add to the festivities.
