July 1 -- Following Jim Thome's second trip to the disabled list, the Philadelphia Phillies recalled red-hot slugger Ryan Howard from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. In 61 games with the Red Barons, he hit .371 with 16 homers and 54 RBIs.

July 3 -- Ross Gload's go-ahead double in the 13th inning capped a five-hit night for the first baseman as Charlotte edged Pawtucket, 5-4. Gload, who hit .321 in 234 at-bats for the Chicago White Sox in 2004, went 5-for-7 with two doubles as the Knights extended their winning streak to five games.

July 7 -- Columbus Clippers outfielder Melky Cabrera was called up to the New York Yankees. After opening the season with Double-A Trenton, he was promoted to Columbus, where he hit .324 with three homers and 11 RBIs in nine games.

July 14 -- Delmon Young, the top prospect in the Devil Rays' organization, received a promotion from Double-A Montgomery to Durham. At the time of his call-up, Young -- the No. 1 pick in the 2003 draft -- was leading the Southern League with 20 homers and 71 RBIs.

July 15 -- Chase Lambin hit three solo homers as Norfolk defeated Syracuse, 7-1. The 26-year-old shortstop homered in the third, fifth and seventh innings, his first dingers since he was promoted to the Tides on June 30.

July 17 -- Scott Baker allowed just two hits in eight innings as Rochester cruised to an 11-1 victory over Durham. The win snapped a personal six-game losing streak for Baker, who is considered the top pitching prospect in the Twins' organization. Delmon Young hit his first Triple-A homer for Durham.

July 17 -- Journeyman right-hander Aaron Small was promoted from Columbus to the New York Yankees. The 33-year-old had pitched for five Major League teams and was 1-4 with a 4.96 ERA for the Clippers.

July 20 -- Brad Eldred's second straight two-homer game helped Indianapolis overcome a nine-run deficit as the Indians defeated Syracuse, 14-11. Eldred's dingers gave him 28 in 74 games with Indianapolis and Double-A Altoona.

July 22 -- Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's A.J. Hinch tripled twice and drove in six runs to lead the Red Barons to a 13-6 victory over Buffalo. The 31-year-old catcher had not tripled since May 28, 2004, and his six RBIs set a career high.

July 23 -- The Red Wings turned the League's second around-the-horn triple play in four days against Durham. With runners on first and second, Brooks Badeaux hit a ground ball to third baseman Terry Tiffee, who stepped on the bag and threw to second baseman Luis Rivas. He made the relay to first baseman Garrett Jones to complete the triple play.

July 24 -- Jorge Toca accounted for all of Charlotte's offense as the Knights defeated Syracuse, 6-5. Toca put Charlotte on the board with a grand slam in the third inning, then delivered a two-run double in the seventh.
