Savery, 'Cutters blank Muckdogs

September 2, 2007
Joe Savery and Christopher Kissock combined on a three-hitter as visiting Williamsport blanked Batavia, 2-0, on Sunday.

Savery (2-2), the Phillies' first-round pick in the 2007 draft, gave up two hits and five walks while striking out five in five innings. He has won back-to-back starts and has not yielded more than one earned run in his last four outings to lower his ERA to 2.19.

Kissock fanned six over the final four frames, pitching around one hit, to notch his first save.

Matthew Spencer provided all the offense with a two-run homer, his ninth, in the fourth for the Crosscutters (31-40), who have won three straight.

Batavia starter Logan Collier (2-2) surrendered two runs on two hits and two walks with four strikeouts in four innings. Blake King finished up with four scoreless frames, allowing a hit while fanning five.

The loss was the fourth straight for the Muckdogs (27-42). --Marc Jimenez/MLB.com
