Become a Batboy with the Squirrels

RICHMOND, Va. - Batboys are an integral part of the Richmond Flying Squirrels team. They ensure that all players' on-field needs are met so everyone can play their best and give our fans a great show! As a batboy you will get to meet and talk with the players and coaches, learn inside tips on what "pro baseball" is all about, and see each and every play from the field!

This job is not for everyone - the batboy position is a demanding job requiring stamina and a positive attitude. Every day holds a unique experience often with tight timelines, so batboys need to be smart, dependable, alert, and flexible. Batboys may see and hear things from adult players and coaches that may be inappropriate for children. Prospective applicants and their parents must be aware that these things do occur, and should be considered before applying.

Duties:
• Stock home and visitor dugouts with water jugs, cups, and gum
• Stock home and visitor clubhouses with supplies
• Communicate with Clubhouse Managers to ensure that all on-field supplies are full
• Any other task that may be assigned by the Clubhouse Manager
• Time commitment of 4.5 - 5 hours on game days For a 7:05 PM start, Batboys start at 6:00 PM and are finished roughly 45 minutes after the game

Requirements:
• Must be a male that is at least 15 years old
• Must be able to work night, holidays, and weekends
• Must be permitted to work 5 or more hours and work games that last past 10 PM
• Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions (rain, heat/cold)
• Must be able to work in an adult male clubhouse environment
• Just be physically able to do all the running around, such as grabbing discarded bats and rounding up baseballs
