Blue Jays Raise Money for Danielle Edwards Foundation
The Dunedin Blue Jays recently honored Dunedin resident Danielle Edwards, who lost her life in a car accident one block away from Knology Park. The accident occurred on the evening of August 1st at the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Beltrees Street.
On Friday, August 31st, the Blue Jays donated a portion of the ticket proceeds from that night's game against the Ft. Myers Miracle to assist Mrs. Edwards' husband and her three sons. In addition, several businesses and individuals within the community donated items for a silent auction that was held during the game. The Jays also held a 50/50 raffle with the proceeds going to the foundation. At the conclusion of the night, the Blue Jays raised $4,300.00 for the Danielle Edwards Foundation.
"We had an overwhelming amount of support from the community and we're impressed how everyone pulled together for a family in need. The night was a huge success and we couldn't have done it without the generosity of others." - Janette Donoghue, Manager Community Relations.
