Baseball Tomorrow Fund Supports Louisa
The earthquake had a major impact on Louisa County as the county's only high school and its elementary schools were irreparably damaged. The schools, closed for the remainder of 2011, were forced to place more than 100 trailers on the middle school playing fields to house more than 2,000 students displaced by the devastation. With the loss of the middle school fields, the league was left without a place to play. Consequently, the league's only choice was to use the Louisa Junior League Field, which required extensive renovations.
To celebrate the completion of the renovation, the Louisa Little League will host a field dedication ceremony at the Louisa Junior League Field at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5th. Mayor of Louisa James S. Artz, Senior Grant Coordinator for the Baseball Tomorrow Fund Meghan Chisholm, Steve Wiley from Musco Sports Lighting and representatives from the Louisa City Council will be on hand to take part in the festivities.
"The Baseball Tomorrow Fund commends the Louisa Little League for its admirable efforts to improve its facilities in the wake of the earthquake that devastated the Louisa community," said Cathy Bradley, Executive Director of the Baseball Tomorrow Fund. "We hope that by providing funding for top quality Musco lighting equipment for the Louisa Junior League field, we can also do our part to help restore this community and provide these players with a great place to play the game once again."
"The earthquake from last year has left an indelible mark on this community," said Mark Alberts, President of the Louisa Little League. "In an effort to return to a state of normalcy, Louisa Little League has aspired to bring good to Louisa by renovating this field for our youth. We thank the Baseball Tomorrow Fund and Musco in their efforts in making this dream a reality."
