Louisville President Gary Ulmer Named International League Executive Of The Year
"Gary's selection is not only a reflection of his leadership with the club, but should be viewed as a testament of the entire organization," said IL president Randy Mobley. "Under Gary's leadership, the organization has reached and sustained a level of success that many others strive to attain."
In the eighth season of play at Louisville Slugger Field in 2007, attendance numbers once again led the IL, with 653,915 fans coming through the gates, an average of 9,210 fans per game. It was also the third highest total in all of Minor League Baseball. The 2007 attendance is the third most in stadium history, trailing only the opening season of 2000 (685,863) and 2002 (658,856).
Louisville was also awarded as host city of the nationally televised 2008 Triple-A All-Star Game this past year. It will be the first time Louisville has held the event since 1991. Louisville will become the first franchise to host the festivities twice. The three-day event, including Fan Fest and Home Run Derby, will take place July 14-16, 2008.
"This really is a team award and recognizes the strong staff we have," said Ulmer. "We have a tremendous front office, most of who have been in place since Louisville Slugger Field opened in 2000 and this award acknowledges the leadership we have within our organization."
Ulmer has been Louisville team president since 1993. He will be presented with the award at the Baseball Winter Meetings in Nashville, TN in December of this year.
