Shrimp earn first win on Brigman walk-off
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp nipped the Jackson Generals 2-1 on a Bryson Brigman walk-off in the 12th inning in front of 6,310 fans at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. On a Red Shirt Friday, fans enjoyed Friday Night Lites spiced up by Tijuana Flats presented by Coors Light and Miller Lite and a Napa AutoCare Family Fireworks Show.
Rodrigo Vigil started on second base in the 12th inning with the score tied at one. Jackson (1-1) reliever Mason McCullough (0-1) notched a strikeout before Santiago Chavez singled to put men on the corners. Brigman then hit a ball to second base and Vigil beat the throw home to give Jacksonville (1-1) its first win of the season.
Jumbo Shrimp starter Jorge Guzman struck out seven in five strong innings, yielding only one run on four hits. A Marcus Wilson RBI single in the fourth inning put Jackson in front, but in the bottom of the frame, Justin Twine's sacrifice fly evened up the score.
Brett Graves, Dylan Lee, Kyle Keller and Elvis Araujo combined to fire seven scoreless innings of relief. The quartet of relievers whiffed nine against just two walks and one hit against. Magneuris Sierra also collected three hits in the win.
Friday's winning raffle number of 1904850029 won a prize of $370.
