Scorpions sting Solar Sox

Travis Hanson keyed a balanced Scorpions attack with a homer and two RBIs in Surprise's 9-3 rout of the Solar Sox on Wednesday in Mesa.

Hanson, a Cardinals prospect, clubbed a solo homer in the seventh inning and capped a four-run eighth with an RBI single.

Eight of nine starters collected at least one hit for the Scorpions. Charlton Jimerson (Astros) went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and Matt Tupman (Royals) chipped in with two hits.

Royals farmhand Jonah Bayliss (3-0) got the win in relief, walking two in a scoreless fifth inning. Taylor Buchholz (Astros) started for Surprise and gave up one run on four hits in four innings.

Mesa starter Angel Guzman (0-2), a Cubs prospect, yielded two runs on two hits and four walks with one strikeout in three innings.

Brad Snyder (Indians) finished 4-for-4 and is batting .366 for the Solar Sox. David Espinosa (Tigers) launched his first homer for Mesa.
