Hadlock Field has new surface in '06

PORTLAND, Maine -- The Portland Sea Dogs announced today that Hadlock Field will have a new playing surface for the 2006 season. The field will be leveled and new sod will be laid. Work began today and the project is expected to be completed over a three week period.

The work is being completed by Sports Turf Specialties Inc. out of Plainville, Massachusetts. Sports Turf Specialties Inc. has also done work at Fenway Park and Gillette Stadium.

In addition to the new playing surface, as announced earlier, Hadlock Field will also be expanding for the 2006 season. A new seating area will be added to right-field creating 390 additional seats to the ballpark. The new section called the U.S. Cellular Pavilion will be similar to the "Monster Seats" of Portland's major league affiliate, the Boston Red Sox, Seating in the U.S. Cellular Pavilion will be pub-style, where fans can sit or stand at counter tops without blocking the view of anyone behind them.

Individual Tickets for the 2006 season will go on sale at the Hadlock Field Box Office on Saturday, November 5th at 9:00 AM. Phone & Internet orders will begin on Monday, November 7th at 9:00 AM. Ticket prices remain unchanged from last season. Box seat tickets are $8.00 for adults and $7.00 for kids and seniors, reserved seat tickets are $7.00 for adults and $6.00 for kids and seniors, and general admission tickets are available for $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for kids and seniors. Tickets for the new U.S. Cellular Pavilion in right-field will NOT be available for sale on November 5th. An announcement regarding the first day of ticket sales for this seating area will be announced at a later date. Season Tickets are currently on sale.
