Manny Ramirez to Play at The Dell Diamond
ROUND ROCK, Texas –Twelve-time All-Star Manny Ramirez will play four games at The Dell Diamond next week, the Oakland Athletics announced Tuesday. Ramirez, currently serving a 50-game suspension, is eligible to play 10 minor league games in advance of his reinstatement. According to the Athletics, he will play all 10 games with Triple-A Sacramento, including the River Cats’ four-game series May 21-24 at The Dell Diamond.
Ramirez will play his first two games Saturday and Sunday at Albuquerque before Sacramento travels to Round Rock. He is eligible to return to major league games May 30 when the Athletics face the Minnesota Twins at Target Field in Minneapolis.
Suspended last season, Ramirez is 14th in baseball history with 555 career home runs and 18th with 1,831 career RBI. He has donned Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays uniforms in his 19-year Major League career. Ramirez played five games with Tampa Bay last season before being suspended.
