ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Former Pacific Coast League umpire Darren Hyman has joined the staff of Professional Baseball Umpire Corp. (PBUC™) as an area evaluator/instructor on a part-time basis. Hyman will observe, instruct and evaluate Minor League Baseball™ umpires in the Arizona Rookie League, and assist PBUC with the training and employment of umpires in the 15 other domestic-based leagues that it oversees.

"Darren's résumé boasts tremendous experience at all levels of baseball, including his current status as an umpire in several NCAA Division I conferences," said Justin Klemm, executive director of PBUC. "Our umpires and the program will benefit from his expertise as we move forward in setting new standards of training and developing umpires."

Hyman, a native of Moline, Ill., has umpired in the New York-Penn, Midwest, California, Eastern, International, Pacific Coast and Venezuela Winter Leagues. His work also earned him an invite from Major League Baseball to the Arizona Fall League.

The Arizona resident holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Western Illinois University.
