Indians announce changes to full-time staff

Three join the front office; Mehringer & Stevenson receive promotions

INDIANAPOLIS -- Meagan Gonser, Bob Woelfel and Bryan Spisak have joined the Indianapolis Indians full-time staff, while Jamie Mehringer and Joey Stevenson have received promotions within the organization. The Tribe's front office now includes 28 individuals in four departments (operations, marketing, tickets & sponsorship).

Gonser comes to the Indians after two seasons as director of media relations and promotions for the Brevard County Manatees of the Florida State League. The sponsorship sales executive earned her bachelor's degree in sports marketing and management from Indiana University in 2006. The 24-year-old is originally from Michigan City, Ind.

Woelfel joins the Tribe after three years as a sales executive for the Gary SouthShore RailCats of the Northern League. The sponsorship sales executive earned his bachelor's degree in public relations from Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2003 and his master's degree in sport administration from the same school in 2004. The 27-year-old grew up in Stockbridge, Wis.

Spisak has been promoted to ticket services manager after serving as a ticket services assistant during the 2007 campaign. The 22-year-old is expected to graduate from Ball State University in December with a bachelor's degree in sport administration. Spisak is originally from Muncie, Ind.

Mehringer has been promoted to director of operations and will now oversee seven full-time employees. The 31-year-old joined the Indians staff as an assistant groundskeeper in March of 2000 and became head groundskeeper in July of 2003. Mehringer earned his bachelor's degree in sports management from Marian College in 1998 and his associate's degree in turfgrass science from Purdue University in 1999. He is originally from Jasper, Ind.

Stevenson has been promoted to head groundskeeper after serving as an assistant groundskeeper during the 2007 campaign. Stevenson, who is now responsible for the Victory Field playing surface and grounds operation, earned his bachelor's degree in turfgrass science from Purdue University in 2006. The 24-year-old is originally from Dwight, Ill.

In addition to the recent front office changes, Drew Heincker was added a ticket sales executive in June of 2007. The 24-year-old joined the Tribe after three years as a ticket account executive for the Joliet JackHammers of the Northern League. Heincker earned his bachelor's degree in sports management from Olivet Nazarene University in 2005. He grew up in Swayzee, Ind.
