Cron Continues Magnificent May, 66ers Win 6-2
San Bernardino, CA- Angels 1st round pick C.J. Cron crushed his sixth home run of the season and helped the Inland Empire 66ers (21-24) defeat the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (21-24). Manaurys Correa was the pitcher of the record for Inland Empire, going a season long 7 1/3 innings for the win.
C.J. Cron extended his personal season long hit streak to seven games with a home run in the 1st frame to put Inland Empire up 2-0. "It felt good," said C.J. of the home run. "It was a 3-1 pitch, I was looking fast ball, and he hit right where I was looking and it found the barrel."
Cron added a two out RBI single in the fifth to put Inland Empire up for good in the game 3-2. Manaurys Correa notched the victory with a season long outing on the mound. The 66ers starter picked up his second consecutive quality start. Outside of a four hit rally for Rancho in the 4th, Correa allowed just one hit and one walk on the night and improved his record on the year to 3-2.
The 66ers will host a rubber match with Rancho Tuesday night at San Manuel Stadium on a VWC Builders Turn Back the Clock Tuesday. The game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 6:55.
