Kole Calhoun Gets First Angels Call-Up
Bobby Cassevah also rejoins Angels.
SALT LAKE CITY (May 21, 2012) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has recalled outfielder Kole Calhoun from Triple-A Salt Lake. His first appearance with the Angels will be his major league debut. In addition, the Angels also recalled right-handed reliever Bobby Cassevah from Salt Lake.
Calhoun, 24, has appeared in 43 games for the Bees in 2012, hitting .296 with 14 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 50 total hits, 31 RBI, 30 runs scored, 83 total bases and six stolen bases. He leads the Bees in doubles, total hits, home runs, RBI, runs scored and total bases. Calhoun made the leap from Single-A to Triple-A in 2012 in just his third season in professional baseball. The Buckeye, Ariz. native was originally selected by the Angels in the eighth round of the 2010 Draft.
Cassevah, 26, has appeared in 13 games of relief for the Bees in 2012, owning a 1-0 record with a 6.75 ERA and three saves. He joined the Bees on April 20 following a rehab stint from an appearance on the Angels' Disabled List with right shoulder inflammation. The Jacksonville, Fla. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 34th round of the 2004 Draft.
