ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Minor League Baseball™ announced today that Earnell Lucas, in addition to his duties as the VP, educational programming & investigative services for Major League Baseball, will serve as a liaison between MiLB™ and local law enforcement agencies in its member clubs' cities. He will also work with league officials to identify and address security issues and facilitate training for Minor League Baseball players to help increase their personal security awareness.

"Minor League Baseball is pleased to have someone of Earnell Lucas' experience become a part of our staff," said MiLB president, Pat O'Conner. "We look forward to working with Earnell and having him lead our facilities and security program. His experience and relationships in baseball form the perfect combination to take our program to the next level.

"We are indebted to John Skinner for his groundbreaking work to get our program off the ground. John's work with Earnell over the past few months has created a seamless transition for our owners, executives, players and umpires."

Lucas assumes the duties that had been held by Skinner, who will now be based full-time in Major League Baseball's New York office, working in its Security & Facility Management Department.

Prior to joining Major League Baseball in 2002, Lucas worked for 25 years in the Milwaukee Police Department, serving as its captain from 1999-2002. He graduated cum laude from Marquette University with a degree in Criminology and Law Studies. Lucas also holds management certificates from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy and the Northwestern University Traffic Institute School of Police Staff and Command, at which he was awarded the Franklin Kreml Leadership Award.
