May 23, 2012

CURVE, Pa. - A zany and exciting homestand filled with parrots, pierogies, fireworks, popcorn buckets, hat giveaways, jersey auctions and what ifs awaits the Altoona Curve when they return to Peoples Natural Gas Field on Tuesday, May 29th.  Altoona will once again welcome in the Richmond Flying Squirrels and then the Portland Sea Dogs, affiliates of the Boston Red Sox, for the only time in Curve, Pa. during 2012.

The homestand gets going with a bang on Tuesday with an enchanting postgame fireworks display following the 6:30 p.m. Two-for-Tuesday game with Richmond.  Fans will be able to bring a buddy to the ballpark and receive two-for-one offers on tickets, hot dogs and regular popcorns for the fireworks game thanks to Atlantic Broadband.

Wednesday night in Curve, Pa. brings with it another What If Wednesday and a WALY 4-Pack Wednesday thanks to WALY 103.9.  It'll be a special night at the yard as we'll answer the question "What if the Curve had been named the Altoona Lake Monsters?" by wearing specially-designed Lake Monsters jerseys that will be worn for this one night only.  Fans will have the opportunity to bid on the game-worn jerseys during the game and then take them from the player who wore them after the game is over.

Curve fans can also take advantage of the WALY 4-Pack Wednesday offer with four tickets, four hot dogs and four regular sodas for just $35 for the one-of-a-kind Wednesday night contest.   Wednesday night's game is also Peoples Natural Gas Customer Appreciation Night at the ballpark and those customers who received the postcard mailer from Peoples Natural Gas can bring it to Wednesday night's game to redeem their two GA tickets.

The series will wrap with Richmond at 6:30 p.m. on a special Thirsty Thursday™ presented by Rocky 104.9 with another postgame fireworks display.  Fans will be able to grab 16oz. Bud Light drafts for just $2 and regular sodas for half price at Thursday night's game before enjoying another awesome fireworks display above the skies of Curve, Pa.

All the excitement and entertainment will continue at the ballpark on a Freebie Friday as the Portland Sea Dogs make their first and only visit to Altoona this season with first pitch at 7 p.m.  The first 1,000 fans through the turnstiles on Friday night will get a Steamer Popcorn Bucket courtesy of Lakemont Park as we pay homage to our mascot's favorite snack item.  It'll also be another T.G.I. Friday's Mug Club Night in Curve, Pa. with 250 lucky fans 21 and up taking home a Mug Club Mug as they exit the park thanks to T.G.I. Friday's.

The party will continue after the game at T.G.I. Friday's on Plank Road with two Curve players heading over to meet and mingle with fans at the Extra Innings Party.

Saturday will be one special night at the ballpark as Buccomania will storm Peoples Natural Gas Field for the 7 p.m. game with the Sea Dogs.  The first 1,000 fans on Saturday night will receive a Pittsburgh Pirates Cap presented by Pepsi as we'll show our pride for the parent club of the Curve.  Also coming to Curve, Pa. with their boogie shoes on will be the Pirate Parrot and the Pierogies as they'll be in town thanks to WTAJ-TV.   The Parrot and the Pierogies will be at the ballpark all game long and also be participating in on-field contests throughout the game.
Fans are also encouraged to wear blue to Saturday night's game with the Sea Dogs on a Curve, Pa. Blue Out Saturday to raise awareness for Prevent Child Abuse Pennsylvania.

Sunday night's 6 p.m. game with the Sea Dogs will bring the homestand to a close but not without a fond farewell with another Sunday Night Fireworks display presented by Excela Health.  We'll also be throwing the coolest people we know, our mascots, a birthday party on Sunday so be sure to bring your party hats for our Mascot Birthday Celebration.  Fans are also encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy with them to the ballpark on Sunday for the USMC Toys for Tots Drive that will be taking place at the gates to Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Kids will also have the opportunities to run the bases after each of the games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
