Daren Brown Sets Wins Mark
The win marked the 376th for Brown since taking over as the Rainiers manager in 2007, surpassing the record of 375 wins set by Dan Rohn over his five-year stint managing at Tacoma from 2001-05. His all-time managerial record with the Rainiers now stands at 376-366.
Brown is now the third manager out of Tacoma's last five to set the record. Prior to Rohn, manager Dave Myers collected a then-record 366 wins as the Rainiers skipper from 1996-2000. Dave Brundage managed one season at Tacoma in 2006 and Jose Castro served as the Rainiers interim manager for part of the Rainiers 2010 campaign while Brown managed the remainder of the season in the Major Leagues at Seattle.
Brown is currently in his 12th season managing in the Mariners organization and his sixth as the skipper at Tacoma. The Holdenville, OK native has amassed an 887-793 record since beginning his managerial career with the independent Amarillo Dillas of the Texas-Lousiana League in 1998.
Rainiers starter Erasmo Ramirez's strong start helped Brown set the mark on Monday. The right-hander turned in a season-high 7.0 innings and allowed just one run on six hits and struck out six en route to collecting his second win with the Rainiers this season.
At the plate, Trayvon Robinson gave Tacoma a quick 1-0 lead after hitting his second first-inning lead-off home run this season. Vinnie Catricala and Guillermo Quiroz combined to stretch the Rainiers edge to 3-0 after each hit one-run doubles in the second inning.
Robinson tallied Tacoma's fourth and final run with a one-run single in the fifth and ended the day going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
