San Bernardino Versus Riverside Counties Compete This Monday
San Bernardino, CA- For the second straight year the Inland Empire 66ers are partnering with the Inland Empire Baseball Coaches Association to host the IEBCA All Star Game, which will be held Monday, June 4th at San Manuel Stadium. The game features the top talents from Riverside and San Bernardino Counties beginning with batting practice at 5 PM, and the first pitch for the game is set for 7:05.
San Bernardino County is once again led by a pitcher off the Yucaipa High School Roster. Thunderbirds ace Tyler Sapp has sported a 1.34 ERA and .170 batting average against on his way to an 8-2 record. He ended the season with three straight complete game shutouts, including a 1-0 win over Redlands High School and a season ending shutout of perennial powerhouse Redlands East Valley. Sapp is committed to San Diego State but could also hear his name called in the upcoming baseball draft.
Riverside County has plenty of its own superstars on their roster, including RJ Ybarra of Riverside Poly High School. The Arizona State signee hit .494 this season with six home runs and 18 RBI for the Bears. According to San Bernardino County assistant coach and Redlands High School head coach Estevan Valencia, these are two of the top talents in a game that is littered with future college and pro stars. "You're going to see some definite guys that are college material. It's one more chance to see these kids in a high school environment and the wealth of talent that will be on the baseball field is well worth the price of admission."
"We're looking forward to hosting the game once again," said 66ers Assistant General Manager Ryan English. "We hope to have a packed house of fans who are as eager as we are to view the future talents of college and professional baseball before they return to San Manuel Stadium in a few years to play for the Inland Empire 66ers."
Admission is just $5 for the game which will be played at the Inland Empire 66ers home ballpark, San Manuel Stadium. For more information contact the 66ers at (909)888-9922.
