Inland Empire Falls To Division Leaders
Adelanto, CA- In a game where the thin air of Adelanto facilitated offense for both teams, the Inland Empire 66ers (26-30) lost to the High Desert Mavericks (30-26) 7-6. The teams combined for five home runs including blasts from Second baseman Taylor Lindsey and first baseman C.J. Cron contributed long balls for the 66ers.
Facing an early 2-0 deficit, the 66ers offense went off in the 4th inning as nine 66ers came up to bat to produce a four run rally that was sparked by Cron's homer, his 8th of the season. Shortstop Rolando Gomez and designated hitter Jean Almanzar drove in runs in the inning as well. Cron's home run extended his hitting streak to 18 games.
However the 66ers bullpen could not keep the lead though as the Mavericks would score a run in each inning from the 2nd to the 8th and notched the game winning run in the 9th on a single by Mavericks right fielder Mike McGee.
The 66ers continue their series with the division leading High Desert Mavericks on the road starting at 3:05 pm. The game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 2:55.
